Group Exercise


Ys offer classes for all ages, all levels, and all interests. From low-impact exercise and chair classes, stretching and strength training to indoor cycling, water exercise, and yoga, you’ll find a group class that’s fun, supportive and keeps you moving.

Group Fitness Class Descriptions

AOA (Active Older Adults): Workouts include easy cardio, strength training, exercise balls, and balance. Stay fit at any age with this fun and motivating class. Recommended age 55+. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

BOOTCAMP: Alternates strength training exercises with cardio activities to give you two workouts in one class. Similar to ‘Temple Challenge’. All ages are welcome.

MODIFIED WATER AEROBICS: Same as water aerobics but designed for beginners or people with special needs. All ages are welcome.

MODIFIED YOGA: Same as regular yoga, but designed for the person just getting started or those with special needs. Please bring a pillow or blanket if you need extra support. All ages are welcome.

PILATES: A conditioning routine that helps build long, lean muscles while emphasizing strength, endurance, flexibility, and posture. The main focus is core strength. Improves overall health and wellness. All ages are welcome.

PIYO: Combines the muscle-sculpting, core-strengthening of Pilates with the strength and flexibility of flowing yoga movements. All ages are welcome.

SILVER SNEAKERS: Have fun and move to music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activities for daily living. A chair is used for seated support. Recommended age 65+.

STEP: Choreographed exercises that incorporate a traditional step promoting cardiovascular fitness as well as lower-body strength. All ages are welcome.

STRENGTH: A choreographed weightlifting class that helps build endurance while becoming stronger. Similar to ‘Mossa’. All ages are welcome.

STRONG: A step-by-step weight lifting class using free weights, steps, and barbells to help you achieve overall body strength. All ages are welcome.

TNT (Trim and Tone): Keep your heart healthy and your muscles toned. Improve flexibility and build strength. This class will get you trim and toned in a great group atmosphere. All ages are welcome.

WATER AEROBICS: Build cardiovascular stamina, strength, and flexibility in the water. Benefits include increasing circulation to help you rehabilitate healing muscles and joints. All ages are welcome.

YOGA: A combination of deep breathing, stretching, and balance exercises that will enhance your well-being.

ZUMBA: An energetic fitness class with a mix of Latin, International and pop music. Aerobic fitness with a combination of fast and slow rhythms to tone the body. Ages 18+

ZUMBA FOR TEENS: Same as the adult class but suitable for ages 13—18.
