Why is it important for you to be an active member at the YMCA? *

It is important to me because the YMCA has always been such an important part of my life since I was 12 years old. And now I enjoy passing the enjoyment of the YMCA on to my children. The YMCA has also helped me achieve my fitness and health goals as well as rehab several injuries I suffered due to sports as well as working as a first responder EMT.

What is your first memory of the YMCA?*

My first memories of the YMCA is from when I was 12 years old ( 23 years ago) I remember spending countless hours at the ymca playing basketball, making friends and memories. As well as learning how to lift weights.

How has the YMCA impacted your life?

The ymca has always provided a place for me to achieve my fitness goals as well as sharpen my skills in basketball. I’ve made friends at the ymca I will have for the remainder of my life as well as countless memories. I’ve also got all 4 of my children involved at the YMCA. The ymca has also given me the ability to reach my fitness goals losing over 40lbs in the last 18 months. As well as rehab a shoulder and knee injury.

What should this community know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?

The ymca is by far the best facility in the MOV for anyone’s health and fitness needs. As well as a fun place to stay active and include the entire family.

How have you witnessed the YMCA Mission in action?

YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

The ymca members and staff are always wonderful, helpful and welcoming to anyone making it a welcoming environment for anyone of any age or from any walk of life.

What is something you are proud of from the last year? This can be personal, professional, academic etc.

The thing I am the most proud of is what I have accomplished and how I have given back to my community as a first responder (EMT) the lives I’ve saved and countless people I have helped. I’ve ran 100 if not thousands of 911 emergency calls in Wood, Wirt and Washington county.
