What is your role at the YMCA?

I am a child care worker.

Tell us a little about your Y-story. What made you want to come work at the YMCA?

I chose to work at the Y because I love working with kids and being part of their growth. The Y is such a positive place where I can make a difference, build connections, and help kids feel supported and encouraged. Seeing them learn, laugh, and grow is what inspires me every day.

How has the YMCA impacted your life?

The Y has shown me how rewarding it is to make a difference every day. Knowing that I’m helping kids learn, grow, and have fun has given me a deeper sense of purpose in my work and in my life. It also has helped me with deciding my degree for my future career.

What do you think the community needs to know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?

I think the community should know that the YMCA of Parkersburg is more than just a gym. It’s a place where people of all ages can come together, grow, and feel supported. The Y is truly an amazing community.

How have you witnessed the YMCA mission in action?

YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

I’ve witnessed the YMCA mission in action through the way staff and members support one another. Whether it’s kids building connections with other children and staff, families connecting, or staff encouraging each other, the Y consistently promotes growth in spirit, mind, and body.

What is something you are proud of from the last year?

Something I’m proud of from the last year is the positive relationships I’ve built with the kids and families at the Y. Seeing the kids grow more confident and knowing I’ve had a part in that is really meaningful to me. It makes me proud to know that I’m making a difference, even in small ways, every day.
