What is your role at the YMCA?
I am the Family Services Director.
Tell us a little about your Y-story. What made you want to come work at the YMCA?
When I moved to West Virginia, I was searching for a child care center that welcomed children of all ages and offered real opportunities for growth. Since joining the Y two and a half years ago, I’ve experienced that growth more quickly and meaningfully than I ever expected.
How has the YMCA impacted your life?
The Y has had a profound impact on my life by giving me the opportunity to do what I love, working with children and supporting their growth. Through this experience, I’ve gained valuable lessons in patience, leadership, and the power of meaningful connections.
What do you think the community needs to know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?
Something the community needs to know about the Y is that it's so much more than just a gym or child care center. The Y is a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can grow, connect, and thrive, physically, emotionally, and socially.
How have you witnessed the YMCA mission in action?
YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
I've seen the YMCA's mission come to life every day through the work we do with children. The Y provides a safe, nurturing environment where kids are encouraged to learn, grow, and gain confidence in themselves and their abilities.
What is something you are proud of from the last year?
I'm proud of everything we've accomplished through our Youth Development programs. Together, we've made significant progress and continue to grow and strengthen the impact of our work.
