What is your role at the YMCA? 

I work at the membership desk!

Tell us a little about your Y-story. What made you want to come work at the YMCA? 

I’ve been coming to the YMCA since I was about 15 years old, and it quickly became a place I really enjoyed being. I always appreciated the environment, the people, and how welcoming the facility felt. When I turned 18, applying to work here felt like a natural step because it was already a place I valued. I’ve now worked here for the past three years, and it’s been a great experience. Being part of a place that has had such a positive impact on me has been really meaningful.

How has the YMCA impacted your life? 

The YMCA has had a big impact on my life by giving me a place where I can grow both personally and professionally. It’s helped me stay active, build relationships with great people, and learn how to work with and serve the community. Working here has also taught me responsibility and leadership, and it’s shown me how important it is to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable and supported.

What do you think the community needs to know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?

The YMCA offers opportunities for people to grow physically, mentally, and socially, and it plays an important role in bringing the community together.

How have you witnessed the YMCA mission in action?

YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. 

I’ve seen the YMCA mission in action through the positive impact it has on people every day. Whether it’s someone improving their health, building confidence, or simply finding a supportive community, the YMCA provides a place where people can better themselves and feel encouraged along the way.

What is something you are proud of from the last year?

Being able to make even a small difference in someone’s day or experience at the YMCA is something I’m really proud of.
