September Trainer of the Month - Alex White

The YMCA of Parkersburg's Trainer of the Month is designed to help you get to know the trainers that help make our Y community great. This month, we’re introducing Alex White who instructs some of our Aqua Zumba and regular Zumba classes. Get to know Alex by reading her responses to our interview questions below.

1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself: what are some fun facts about you?

Hi! My name is Alex White. I live in Parkersburg with my husband. I have two children and two beautiful grandchildren. I truly enjoy playing and spending time with them. When I’m not instructing Zumba classes, I work at my day job at Marietta Memorial Hospital’s clinic setting in Vienna.

2. What fitness class/classes do you instruct?

I teach Zumba and Aqua Zumba.

3. When and why did you become a trainer? What's your style of training?

I began teaching Aqua Zumba at the Y in 2019 and Zumba in 2020. I became an instructor to stay active, healthy, and to have fun while working out. The style for my classes consists of having a great time and forgetting about our worries and stress for 45 minutes while working out.

4. Tell us a bit about the class you instruct.

Aqua Zumba brings new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. It combines the Latin Zumba rhythm and dance steps with a pool party. Zumba is the same but on the dance floor.

5. What is your favorite part about instructing at the Y? Favorite part about the Y?

My favorite part is that I get to meet wonderful people, and I can try to help others achieve their health goals.
