November Staff Member of the Month - Brianna Howard

Brianna Howard was nominated for her dedicated work at Summer Camp. Miss Bri took over as the Youth
Development Coordinator only a couple weeks before Camp Navigator was set to begin. She guided her staff and the campers week after week and planned exciting trips and activities all summer long! Bri is passionate about her work and is always making sure the kids are in a safe, fun and supportive space when they attend care at the YMCA of Parkersburg.

Tell us a little about your Y-story. What made you want to come work at the YMCA?

I was interested in working for the Y because I've always had a passion for working with children. I'm a former teacher, but wanted something a little more fulfilling. There are a lot of kids that attend the Y that don't have the resources I had growing up, which is something we at the Y try to provide them with.

How has the YMCA impacted your life?

The Y has impacted my life in ways I never thought it could. I have realized how much the Y, and the programs we hold truly impact kids lives. During camp, we took the kids to the Pittsburgh Zoo. So many of the kids mentioned it being the best day of their life. I sometimes don't realize how fortunate I was as a child because a lot of our field trips I planned were not uncommon activities for me. Planning these exciting, and fun activities for kids is honestly one of the most rewarding feelings when you see the smiles on their faces.

What should this community know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?

The Y provides a lot of opportunities for children and families to participate in all year long.

How have you witnessed the YMCA Mission in action?

I witness the Y's mission from my employees and our management team daily. We all work together to provide a safe and fun environment for our kids that attend our programs. We all put the Y and the kids needs above our own.

What is something you are proud of from the last year?

I'm proud of the progress my department and employees have made since I've been here. We have received so many compliments as a department over the past couple of months and it's been so fulfilling.
