January Staff Member of the Month - Madison Steed

Madison Steed was nominated for her dedication and passion for the YMCA. Miss Madison has worked a little bit of everything at the YMCA which makes her a valuable team member. She is very professional and is beloved by many of the parent's whose kids she takes care of here at the Y.

Tell us a little about your Y-story. What made you want to come work at the YMCA?

I babysat all through high-school, and then after worked retail for a few years, but I really missed working with children. While on the job hunt I saw the YMCA was hiring for childcare, and immediately sent in my application. I've been working childcare for a few years at the Y and love every second of it.

How has the YMCA impacted your life?

While working at the YMCA, I have gotten to work with such amazing people that have become more like family than coworkers or members.

What should this community know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?

The YMCA offers fun activities for people of every age or interest.

How have you witnessed the YMCA Mission in action?

Working in the childcare department, I see the mission put into practice everyday. I see my coworkers teaching the kiddos to be the best little humans they can be.

What is something you are proud of from the last year?

I’m proud of myself for getting back into creating art again, and rediscovering my love of painting and crocheting. Though it my be small, it is something I'm extremely proud of myself for.
