What is your role at the YMCA? 

I work as a lifeguard at the indoor pool here at the Y.

Tell us a little about your Y-story. What made you want to come work at the YMCA? 

I’ve always been in aquatics. I moved here 4 years ago to help my dad. I wanted a place to swim and the Y needed lifeguards. I was a lifeguard in a previous life for 27 years. That doesn’t include my early years working at the Jackson Park pool and the Marietta Y when I was in high school.

How has the YMCA impacted your life? 

I’ve met a lot of really nice people.

What do you think the community needs to know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?

The Y has a lot to offer.

How have you witnessed the YMCA mission in action?

YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. 

I witness the mission in action all the time in everything we do.

What is something you are proud of from the last year?

I am proud of my continued work in the cardboard trailer at the Marietta Recycle Center.
