What is your role at the YMCA?
I work at the front desk!
Tell us a little about your Y-story. What made you want to come work at the YMCA?
I’ve been lifting for about five years, and during that time the gym has become more than just a place to work out it’s a place where I’ve gotten to meet so many different kinds of people. That sense of community is a big part of what made me want to work at the YMCA. Every day at the Y, you see people of all ages, backgrounds, and goals coming together in one space. I love the idea of being part of that environment and helping others feel welcome, supported, and confident on their own fitness journeys. The YMCA isn’t just a job for me it’s a place where I can share my passion for fitness, connect with people, and make a positive impact.
How has the YMCA impacted your life?
Being at the YMCA has taught me the value of consistency, hard work, and staying active, but it’s also shown me how important it is to have a welcoming place where everyone feels like they belong. The Y has helped shape who I am today, and it continues to inspire me to be positive, encouraging, and open to new connections.
What do you think the community needs to know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?
The community should know that the YMCA of Parkersburg is much more than a gym it’s a welcoming, supportive place for everyone. People of all ages and backgrounds come here not only to stay active, but to learn, grow, and connect with others. The Y offers programs that strengthen the whole community and creates an environment where everyone feels like they belong. It’s a place that builds confidence, encourages healthy living, and brings people together in a meaningful way.
How have you witnessed the YMCA mission in action?
YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
I’ve seen the YMCA mission in action through the way people welcome, support, and encourage each other every day. The Y shows its commitment to building a healthy spirit, mind, and body by creating an environment where everyone feels included and valued. Staff and members live out those Christian principles through kindness, respect, and genuine community.
What is something you are proud of from the last year?
Something I am proud of from last year is my accomplishments in lifting and my arm wrestling.
