September Member of the Month - Don Fosselman
The YMCA of Parkersburg's Member of the Month is designed to help you get to know the members that help make our Y community great. This month, we’re introducing Don Fosselman who has been a loyal Y Member and supporter of our non-profit organization for 40 years. Let’s get to know him!
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself: what are some fun facts about you?
I have been a teacher for 42 years. For that same amount of time, I’ve coached sports like soccer, track, and basketball. In addition, I am a family man. I love my wife Sherry, 2 sons Donnie and David, daughter-in-law Wendy, and 2 grandchildren Cameron and Nick. Relating to fitness, I used to be an active runner until my knee gave out. This led me to start swimming.
2. What types of fitness/training/exercise do you enjoy the most?
My favorite types of fitness involve cardio, strength training, and swimming exercises. These exercises help my 70-year-old body stay healthy.
3. Are you currently enrolled in fitness classes at the Y? If so, please list all of the classes you take.
I currently attend the Y’s cycling classes. I enjoy the classes because great instructors teach them and make them fun.
4. What is your favorite part of the YMCA of Parkersburg?
My favorite part of the Y is that it helps me stay accountable to living a healthy lifestyle. I feel like I need to exercise every day, and the Y makes it possible for me while facilitating a welcoming environment.
5. Why is the YMCA of Parkersburg your preferred gym?
I look forward to going to the Y every day because of the friendly people who work there, its variety of equipment and facilities, and the convenient location of being close to my home.
