September Trainer of the Month - Jodie Madrid
The YMCA of Parkersburg's Trainer of the Month is designed to help you get to know the trainers that help make our Y community great. This month, we’re introducing Jodie Madrid who instructs Water Aerobics. Let’s get to know her:
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself: what are some fun facts about you?
I am a mom of 2, been married 24 years, have lived in 6 states, and classify myself as a talkative person. In addition, I’ve been IN NORAD and on Air Force One. Lastly, I love indoor skydiving and have been known to bungee jump out of a hot air balloon.
2. What fitness class(es) do you instruct?
I teach Water Aerobics every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM.
3. When and why did you become a trainer? What's your style of training?
I’ve always loved Water Aerobics. For several years, I was a substitute instructor for the class. This month marks my 3 year anniversary of being a full-time instructor.
4. Tell us a little bit about the fitness class(es) that you instruct.
Water Aerobics helps build cardiovascular stamina, strength, and flexibility in the water. Some benefits of the class include increasing circulation to help you rehabilitate healing muscles and joints.
5. What is your most favorite part about instructing at the YMCA of Parkersburg and why?
I love the people at the Y. I believe they are the greatest people anyone could ever meet.
