What is your role at the YMCA? 

I am a summer lifeguard.

Tell us a little about your Y-story. What made you want to come work at the YMCA? 

In 2022 two of my best friends in high school Haylie Polan and Jaden Garner both wanted me to work with them at the pools for the summer.

How has the YMCA impacted your life? 

The YMCA has been there for me giving me hours when I needed them and my coworkers felt like family I’ve made good relationships at the YMCA.

What do you think the community needs to know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?

The Parkersburg YMCA helps people grow, stay healthy, and provides programs for everyone.

How have you witnessed the YMCA mission in action?

YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. 

I’ve seen the YMCA create a safe, welcoming place where people of all ages can learn, stay active, and build confidence, through swim lessons and water safety.

What is something you are proud of from the last year?

I am a student training to be a commercial pilot at West Liberty University.

I was asked if I would be interested to lifeguard at the outdoor pools over the summer.

How has the YMCA impacted your life? 

The YMCA provided me with the skills and opportunity to save a child’s life.

What do you think the community needs to know about the YMCA of Parkersburg?

The Parkersburg YMCA is a great place to work with a great team of co-workers.

What is something you are proud of from the last year?

I am proud of myself for passing the lifeguard certification course and using those skills to save a kids life a year later.
