August Trainer of the Month - Deborah Trippett
The YMCA of Parkersburg's Trainer of the Month is designed to help you get to know the trainers that help make our Y community great. This month, we’re introducing Deborah Trippett who instructs some of our Spin classes. We interviewed Deborah and see what her responses were by reading the following:
I am a native of West Virginia and love my state. I grew up in Wheeling and moved to Parkersburg in 1991. Right now, I am a 51-year-old mother of two who has been happily married to my husband, Kevin, for 20 years, and work for the Accounting Firm of McDonough, Eddy, Parsons, and Baylous. I’ve been their Office Manager for 29 years.
My family is most important to me! We are definitely a YMCA family. My husband worked at the YMCA of Parkersburg while attending college. He now serves on its Board of Directors. Both of my children participated in the YMCA of Parkersburg's Daycare, After-school, and Summer Day Camp programs as well as played nearly every YMCA sport.
Currently, my 18-year-old daughter, Madison, attends the University of Richmond as a student-athlete running track, cross country, and indoor track. My 15-year-old son, Hunter, attends Parkersburg High School and is active in the band, theatre, and physics clubs. He is also involved with scouting.
In my spare time, I love to travel and enjoy the outdoors. Some of my hobbies include hiking, cycling, camping, kayaking, repelling, and backpacking. I love to see new things and try new adventures.
I am also a certified Scuba Diver, but haven’t “blown bubbles” in many years because raising my 2 kids became my passion. I hope to return to the underwater world soon.
When I’m not at work or with my family, I can be found leading Spin classes at the YMCA of Parkersburg on Monday and Thursday nights at 6:00 PM, jogging around town or on a trail, cycling local roads or the North Bend Trail with the Blennerhassett Bike Club, or training at the gym.
I first became interested in teaching Spin classes for the YMCA of Parkersburg when they had their Market Street location. I started out as a substitute instructor and frequently subbed there until a permanent instructor position opened up. When the Market Street location closed, I moved back to the Broad Street location to continue as a Spin Instructor.
Spin classes are available Monday - Thursday, and on Saturdays at the YMCA of Parkersburg. I along with Sara Reeves, Candy Bailey, Roberta Green instruct these classes. Our participants are friends, and it’s common for us to check on one another if someone is missing from class.
We are a family here at the YMCA of Parkersburg., and it’s truly my home away from home!
